A man in his 20s is in hospital with a "serious head injury" after an assault in Cotgrave. Nottinghamshire Police say officers were called to Grassmere at around 6.45pm on Wednesday .
The force say a man was assaulted and that the victim remains in hospital, though his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Those who may have seen the incident, or who have any information about it, are now being told to get in touch with the police. Detective Sergeant Matt Dumbrell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a violent assault that left a young man in hospital with a serious head injury. We are currently investigating what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident and urge any witnesses to come forward." The cordon has since been lifted.
