The National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate after a passenger on a business jet died from severe turbulence on Friday.
State police identified the victim as 55-year-old Dana Hyde of Cabin John, MD.
The Connecticut Airport Authority said the private aircraft was diverted to Bradley around 4 p.m. because of a medical emergency. The plane, a Bombardier Challenger 300, carried three passengers and two crew members when the plane was diverted. “I can imagine in an episode like this where a person unfortunately was injured because of turbulence. It suggests to me that they weren’t wearing a seatbelt,” said Dr. Teiger, longtime pilot, former FAA medical examiner. “Severe turbulence is very uncomfortable, but from a pilot point of view, it doesn’t represent anything in the way of unsafe flying.”
