The Mets are going to be as conservative as possible with the potential wear and tear on Starling Marte’s body during an intensive stretch to start the season that will feature 19 games in 20 games.
“I gave him a heads up after the game and this is a conversation that I had with him during spring training… it was an easy conversation with him,” Mendoza said. “Especially with us playing 19 games in 20 days. We’re going to try and take advantage as much as possible now before we can play him in the field .”
