Stark warning of ‘lethal’ closure threat for pubs struggling with rocketing energy bills.
The British Beer and Pub Association says some brewers could be at a loss of 20% when the energy bill relief scheme ends in March.
The group has warned many pubs need some longer-term security to ensure they can keep doors open as they face rocketing energy costs. The report showed energy costs are the biggest threat to their viability and "would be even more lethal" when the relief scheme ends. "We have tried to switch suppliers but been rejected, and the only reason we're able to keep going is because our pub company is helping us through.
