The recent Star Wars book centered on the expansive timeline of the franchise reveals the official year of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious’ birth.
The recent Star Wars book centered on the expansive timeline of the franchise - Star Wars: Timelines - reveals the date of birth of the franchise's iconic villain: Emperor Palpatine. The book, written by Kristin Baver, Jason Fry, Cole Horton, Amy Richau, and Clayton Sandell provides the definitive exploration of Star Wars' vast multimedia story, and how each individual project fits onto the timeline.
When concerning Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine, the Star Wars villain has appeared in every trilogy of the Skywalker Saga as the series' main villain. Despite this, his actual origins have been left unclear. With Star Wars: Timelines though, the definitive dates of many Skywalker Saga-related events have been revealed, including Palpatine's date of birth and therefore how old he was during each of his major Star Wars appearances.
How Old Was Palpatine In Each Star Wars Movie? Palpatine being born in 84BBY means that he was around 52 years old during Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Given the 10-year gap between Episode I and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, this means Palpatine was 62 years old at the beginning of the latter film. Palpatine's final appearance in the prequel trilogy came in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which takes place three years after Attack of the Clones.
