Stanford's Bernard Muir says school has been open and transparent with Pac-12, which lost...

Pac-12 Conference commissioner George Kliavkoff speaks at Pac-12 NCAA college football media day Friday, July 29, 2022, in Los Angeles.Almost exactly a month after USC and UCLA announced they’ll leave in 2024 to join the Big Ten, the Pac-12 held its football media day in none other than Los Angeles on Friday.

Reports this week said the Big Ten is considering four Pac-12 schools — Cal, Stanford, Oregon and Washington — for further expansion. When asked if he thought there’s any chance the L.A. schools might not leave the Pac-12, Kliavkoff spoke only about UCLA. He mentioned the UC Regents meeting Oct. 17 during which UCLA is scheduled to address its decision to join the Big Ten, which figures to have a damaging effect on Cal’s financial bottom line.

“I think it’s unlikely” UCLA opts not to go to the Big Ten, Kliavkoff said, “but if they came back, we’d welcome them back.”
