A St. John’s man accused in the stabbing death of a Toronto teenager made another brief appearance in court Friday.
The case against 22-year-old Jordan O’Brien-Tobin was called at the Old City Hall courthouse on Queen Street West in Toronto Friday afternoon. He was represented by the daily duty counsel, who told the judge they’re working on assigning a dedicated Legal Aid lawyer to the case. O’Brien-Tobin was charged with first-degree murder after the random stabbing of a 16-year-old boy who was sitting on a bench in a subway station on the night of March 25.That’s just part of a lengthy criminal record racked up here, with other, more serious charges laid since he moved to Ontario about two years ago.
O’Brien-Tobin has also reportedly struggled with his mental health and substance abuse, and was believed to be homeless at the time of the subway attack.O’Brien-Tobin was previously denied bail and is being held at the Toronto South Detention Centre.
