The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Tonto National Forest will begin a project to improve a 11-mile gravel section of State Route 88 between milepost 229 near the Apache Lake Marina and milepost 242 near the Theodore Roosevelt Dam beginning tonight, Monday, Sept. 26. The project will improve the roadway by applying an aggregate base and a chip seal. In addition, the project will also improve stormwater drainage and replace, repair, and/or extend culverts that are not currently functional or have been damaged by flood events within the project area.
Drivers should plan for multiple flagging operations and temporary closures, not to exceed 20 minutes, while crews are working. ADOT will provide information about restrictions and closures in advance to assist drivers with decisions about alternate routes. Drivers should prepare to allow extra travel time and use caution in all work zones.https://azdot.
