Fernando Tatis Jr. hits second homer of the spring in Padres win, Blake Snell throws six shutout innings in final spring start
The Padres beat the Angels 3-0 on Friday at Tempe Diablo Stadium to even their Cactus League record at 12-12.Right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-3, homered for the second time this spring and scored two runs. He has two hits in four straight Cactus League games, lifting his spring batting line to .324/.395/.514 despite his 0-for-16 start. … Designated hitter Matt Carpenter was 2-for-3 with a run scored. … First baseman Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Paired with catcher Luis Campusano for his tune-up for next week’s opening day start, Blake Snell struck out six while scattering three hits and a walk over six shutout innings. … Reliever Domingo Tapia struck out two over a scoreless seventh and Brent Honeywell struck out a batter and allowed two hits over two shutout innings to close the game, his first scoreless appearance of the spring. Honeywell had allowed eight runs over his previous 7 2/3 innings.
