FALMOUTH, N.S. — The owners of the Spoke and Note have been striking the right chords since launching their business nearly five years ago.
When the Woods first opened their shop on March 20, 2018, it was located in downtown Windsor, in quite cramped quarters. They had about 500 square feet to work with. The Woods are eager to show the new expansion to people who stop by. The main floor of the building is split into sections. Visitors are first met with cycling equipment when they enter. Then a cosy section with a fireplace where they are invited to stay a while, try out musical instruments, and relax. At the back is a wall of guitars and various instruments for sale.
Ashley said customers have noticed the difference with the new Spoke and Note; no one feels rushed to leave. Ashley and Tony Wood, seated in a comfortable lounge area in the middle of the Spoke and Note, say they love that they can offer a spot where customers can stop by, test out musical instruments in a comfortable setting and not feel rushed. - Carole Morris-Underhill“My wife’s a musician and I had a bike, so it kind of made sense for us to support local as best we could,” said Kasprzak.
He’s become a regular at the shop, even joining the Wednesday night bike rides as well as weekend outings. Unlike other high-end music and cycling stores, Kasprzak said the Woods make everyone, regardless of skill level, feel welcome. Tony Wood working on repairing a bicycle wheel while shop dog Luna slumbers peacefully beside him is a common sight at the Spoke and Note. - Carole Morris-Underhill
If a tourist indicates what they’d like to see or do, they will construct a cycling tour that caters to those interests.
