Images for Spirited reveal a new look at the Christmas movie musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol, starring Ryan Reynolds as Ebenezer Scrooge and Will Ferrell as the Ghost of Christmas Present

New Spirited images reveal the first official look at Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell's new movie. The two stars' careers have seemed to be going in opposite directions in recent years. Following his solo debut as Wade Wilson in 2016's Deadpool, which raised Reynolds' profile in earnest, the actor has followed that up with a string of hits outside the series, including Free Guy and Red Notice.

With Daddy's Home Sean Anders and John Morris serving as writer/directors, Spirited will team the two comedic talents for a holiday event coming to Apple TV+. The movie will act as a modern retelling of Charles Dickens' ubiquitous 1843 novella A Christmas Carol, but as a musical. Reynolds stars in the lead role as Ebenezer Scrooge, while Ferrell shares top billing as the Ghost of Christmas Present. The Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer stars in an undisclosed role and Mr.

The first look at Spirited was released as part of an extensive preview of Apple TV+'s upcoming slate, which also included first looks at Henry Cavill's new spy-thriller Argylle, Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke's Raymond and Ray, and Zac Efron's The Greatest Beer Run Ever. Of all these upcoming titles for Apple TV+, Spirited is one of the most notable given its high-profile cast and the confidence the streamer has shown in the project.

A Christmas Carol is one of the most recognizable IPs on the planet, which could work in favor of and against Spirited. On one hand, it could garner interest in the movie, while it also runs the risk of turning audiences off considering the countless screen adaptations of A Christmas Carol that already exist, including a 2004 television musical starring Kelsey Grammar.
