This year’s F1 Spanish GP will run without the chicane in the final sector for the first time since it was introduced in 2007 ⬇️
The change will ensure that the lap finishes with two fast corners, as it did in the past, and the hope is that it will allow cars to follow more closely onto the straight and encourage overtaking.
The removal of the chicane has been in discussion for some years, and the key was to get FIA approval and homologate the track with the revised layout. “Like all of our circuits and different corners and everything, we work together with the teams, the drivers and F1 in ensuring we've got the safest venue, but also something that promotes good racing.”
