When the man, a Chinese national, got out to investigate he was set upon by two other thieves who wrenched the watch from his arm before running away. Video footage of the crime was released on Thursday. It is the 229th case this year in which luxury watches have been snatched from British tourists and other holidaymakers visiting the city.
In May, Richard Blair, the son of George Orwell, had his £16,250 Omega watch stolen within hours of arriving in Barcelona after taking part in a tour to celebrate his father’s bookat the time that the thieves surprised him as he left a hotel and tore the timepiece from his arm.
