Southwest Airlines is eying overnight flights in its future.

In November, Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said red-eye flights were on the horizon for the Dallas-based airline.

In November, Southwest CEO Bob Jordan hinted at the Skift Aviation Forum in Fort Worth that “there’s a world” where the Dallas-based carrier has red-eye flights , but details just hadn’t been figured out yet. At an air travel conference in Colombia hosted by Routes last week, Ryan Green, chief commercial officer at Southwest said the carrier will add overnight flights from Las Vegas and Hawaii. Those details, he and the carrier hope, will be worked out in the next two years, he said.“We have the aircraft, it’s a great way to use an asset that you already have and use it more productively which means more hours in the day. So, we will be doing red-eyes.

U.S. aviation authorities are considering drastic measures to curb growth at United Airlines, including preventing the carrier from adding new routes, following a series of safety incidents., Aviation Reporter.
