A crew from News 13 is covering Tropical Storm Debby as it slowly makes it way up the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina.

On Aug. 6, the crew was in Moncks Corner , South Carolina , a town 45 minutes Northeast of Charleston, and it experienced significant damage. Moncks Corner Mayor Tom Hamilton was assessing the damage during the day and spoke to News 13 .

Several businesses were ripped apart from the storm, with the Moncks Corner Arby's restaurant hit the hardest, as strong winds blew out the windows."We need to be thankful. We need to be thankful that someone wasn't seriously injured or killed in this storm," Hamilton said. "We got some minor flooding, but nothing like this," said Brody Moran. "It looked like somebody set a bomb off in there."

The National Weather Service in Charleston, South Carolina posted early Tuesday afternoon that the City of Charleston is reporting 60 city roads are closed due to flooding and that all primary access points to the peninsula were closed to incoming traffic. The latest News 13 Skywatch forecast shows that Tropical Storm Debby will slowly move over the Atlantic Ocean through the day Tuesday.

The system is expected to produce life-threatening flooding along and near the Southeast Coast through the remainder of the week.
