Hugh Freeze gets to work on building his coaching staff at Auburn.
Friend was in his second season as the Tigers’ offensive line coach. He spent the previous three seasons as the offensive line coach at Tennessee. Before that, he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Colorado State before Jan 2021, when Harsin hired Friend.
Hartline was promoted to quarterbacks coach for Auburn in November 2022 when Harsin was fired after the Arkansas loss. Hartline joined the program in January 2022, serving as an offensive analyst before his promotion. According to sources, linebacker coach Christan Robinson and secondary coach/ associate head coach Zac Etheridge are expected to remain on Freeze’s staff. Robinson worked with Freeze as a GA from 2015-16 at Ole Miss.
