Did you check out HAIMtheband's video for 'Summer Girl' yet
Haim have dropped the music video for their eagerly awaited single "Summer Girl," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson . In it, the sisters explore the streets of L.A., trailed by a mysterious saxophonist, while removing a ridiculous amount of coats, sweaters, and shirts to cool off in the summer heat. It's a true hot girl summer .
In a statement posted to Twitter, Danielle Haim shared that she wrote the track"around the time my partner was diagnosed with cancer a couple years ago while we were making [Something to Tell You]." She added that he is clear of cancer now. She continued,"We were touring on and off at this time and every time we were on the phone with each other or when I would come home in between shows, I wanted to be this light that shined on him when he was feeling very dark. I wanted to be his hope when he was feeling hopeless." And so came the idea of being his"summer girl."
Danielle also shared that the track pulled inspiration from Lou Reed's"Walk On The Wild Side" and its layered bass lines. The video also sees the sisters hanging out in a deli and Danielle moonlighting as an usher at movie theater New Beverly Cinema. See it all, below.
