After being determined Rotten by critics, The Exorcist: Believer gets an official audience score from Rotten Tomatoes after opening in theaters.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Exorcist: Believer's Rotten Tomatoes audience score has been revealed. The new movie, which is the sixth in the Exorcist franchise, was directed and co-written by David Gordon Green, who previously helmed the Halloween legacy sequel trilogy.

On the weekend of the Exorcist: Believer release, audience members have been uploading their reactions to the new horror movie. More than 250+ verified ratings have come in, and Rotten Tomatoes has tabulated an audience score of 55% for the movie. While it will still fluctuate in the coming weeks and months, the score more than doubles the movie's critic score of 23%, though it doesn't cross the line over into Fresh territory.

How Does The Exorcist: Believer's Rotten Tomatoes Score Compare to the Rest of the Franchise? While this audience score isn't exactly a success for The Exorcist: Believer, it does make it the third-highest-rated movie in the Exorcist franchise. In fact, the only Fresh-rated movie of the bunch is the original 1973 The Exorcist, with a score of 87%. The second-highest movie on the chart is 1990's The Exorcist III, with another just-barely Rotten audience score of 57%.

The other three movies in the franchise are more or less unequivocally hated by critics and audiences alike. While the divide between the Exorcist: Believer reviews and its audience score is rather sharp, the previous entries from the new millennium, The Exorcist: The Beginning and Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist, have much tighter margins with audience scores of 27% and 25% respectively.

Unusually, the highest-rated entry in the franchise from both critics and audiences is the two-season Fox television show The Exorcist, which has an 89% average from critics and 91% from audiences. This is most likely due to the fact that it has fewer ratings in both categories than the original movie, and is thus slightly less statistically significant despite nevertheless having obvious wide appeal.
