SolitudeWritten by Rúnar Rúnarsson , the pic follows Gunnar, who is forced by the state to sell his country home. He leaves without looking back, abandoning his horses to relocate to the capital. He soon meets 10-year-old Ari, and their friendship proves to be transformative for them both.
The film stars Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson, Hermann Samúelsson, Anna Gunndís Gudmundsdóttir, and Hjörtur Jóhann Jónsson. Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir, Hlín Jóhannesdóttir, Elli Cassata, and Rúnar Rúnarsson produced the film. Party Film Sales is handling world sales rights, while Samfilm is the domestic distributor.
“It’s an immense honor to have my first feature film premiere at TIFF. Sharing the film with the Toronto audience is going to be such a big, therapeutic moment for me,” Pálmadóttir said. “When Rúnar Rúnarsson sent me his script, I knew right away this was a film I needed to make. A story I needed to tell. I’ve always been fascinated by pure connections – especially with people who aren’t family. That’s always moved me and was something I was exploring in my short Paperboy. I like everyday magic – I’m a big people watcher in real life, and have a notebook I always use when I see these moments of connection, the simple everyday magic moments.
