The Pearland Lady Oiler softball team stunned Katy with rallies in the seventh and 10th innings to advance to the Region 3-6A championship.In her 24 years of head coaching at Pearland High School, Laneigh Clark has never experienced a comeback like the one her Lady Oilers staged Saturday evening at Dawson High School.
Katy had all but secured a spot in the regional finals after taking a 4-0 lead into the seventh inning. If the pressure then fell squarely on the shoulders of Pearland sophomore Raenna Liscano, she certainly didn’t feel it. Katy’s Hailey Gore was tagged out at home in the seventh and Lady Tiger Avery Porter was gunned down in the eighth inning giving Pearland new life.
Golden ignited Pearland’s half of the 10th inning with a high chopper, which she beat out for a single. Nyus followed with a single to load the bases and then Perry ripped a two-run single - the seventh single of the inning - for a 9-4 advantage.
