The Calgary Flames lose must\u002Dwin game against the Anaheim Ducks at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
That’s obviously incredibly frustrating, especially against a Ducks team that is way out of a playoff position but got a stellar performance from John Gibson in net, who saved 35 shots. Lots of goalies seem to do that against the Flames.
“It does feel pretty repetitive,” said Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar. “We’ve got to find ways to win. It’s another night of out-shooting an opponent but coming up short. They were the better team in the first period but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Ducks had little sustained pressure, though, and with Jacob Markstrom – who saved 15-of-17 shots — again looking sharp, there was every reason to believe that if the Flames could break through, they’d be in good shape.Early in the second period, Elias Lindholm fired a shot at the net and it bounced off Mikael Backlund’s leg. It wasn’t a lucky bounce, it was a good bounce.
