Owner Abbas Dhanani, who has been readying a brick-and-mortar location after a year of pop-ups, announced that Burger Bodega will open to the public on Nov. 3 at 4520 Washington. But fans can get an early jump with a few more pop-ups beginning today through Friday when Burger Bodega will offer its menu from 11 a.m. to sold out through the pick-up window only at the new location. The restaurant will open officially on Nov. 3.
, which is still working on its first Houston restaurant location, Dhanani has been instrumental in stoking smash burger hunger in the city.“With years of working in the fast food industry for my family's business, I’ve always had the dream of opening up my own restaurant,” Dhanani said. “All the overwhelming support from the city over the last year at each pop-up truly has been amazing, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring my passion project to Washington Avenue.
The restaurant will offer the original Double Smash Burger, two smash patties with American cheese, grilled onions, house-made pickles and bodega sauce on a potato bun. Dhanani will now offer it as a single and a triple, as well as the Chopped Cheese , Screwed Fries , Chopped Fries , and shakes using Craft Creamery ice cream in flavors including Vietnamese coffee and mango lassi.
The new Burger Bodega, set in the former Cabo taco shop, was designed by Vy Truong to resemble a New York-style bodega with art from Houston’s Donkeeboy, graffiti artist Noke 713, and students from Young Art Pros. To further the bodega aesthetic, the restaurant will stock retail goods from local restaurants and purveyors including Bludorn, Craft Pita, Pudgy’s Fine Cookies, Blood Bros. BBQ, Seaside Poke, Kin, Feges BBQ, and Greenway Coffee.
