The province’s police watchdog said Toronto police were called to an apartment on Martha Eaton Way near Black Creek and Trethewey Drives on Thursday afternoon.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is probing the death of a man who fell from a balcony in North York on Thursday afternoon.
Toronto police were called to a highrise apartment building on Martha Eaton Way near Black Creek and Trethewey Drives around 4:30 p.m. for reports of a “person in crisis,” the SIU said in a news release. According to the SIU, Toronto police located a 56-year-old man on the balcony. An officer spoke with the man before the man fell from the balcony.The SIU is the province’s police watchdog. The agency is called in to investigate whenever police discharge a firearm at a person, or when they are involved in a death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
