The NDP leader says the appearance of bias, due to Johnston\u0027s lengthy relationship with the Trudeau family, can not be overcome.

Singh has not attacked Johnston personally, but said the appearance of bias clouds Johnston’s findings so far.

“We believe a public inquiry, the rigour and the scrutiny of a public inquiry, is the only path to re-instill confidence in our electoral system,” he said.Article content He is instead planning to go ahead with public hearings in advance of a second report he will issue in the fall. The hearings will aim to study the broader issues without getting into exactly who in the government knew what and when.Article content
