The Maple Leafs selected Woll from the US Development team with a draft pick that mostly went unnoticed. That was the morning after in Buffalo. The night before, the Leafs had celebrated the selection of Auston Matthews. “You never know how long it’s going to take for goalies to develop,” Cole said. “I always say: Forwards first, defence second, goalies third. That’s the rule of thumb in the game.”
