Newly signed QB Chad Kelly was just good enough to lead the Argos to a 41\u002D21 game in Hamilton.
They have five more wins than the Ticats, who played to the quality of their uniforms on Monday afternoon. The starting quarterback wore the Number 0. The uniforms, designed by someone with a dreadful sense of both fashion and football, looked like some kind of camouflage outfit. You couldn’t read their numbers or read their names — and maybe on this Labour Day, that was a good thing.
Yesterday, almost no noise. Yesterday, no dancing. Yesterday, it was expected. Just another notch on their belt through 10 games, with eight games to play for and a home-field buy in the playoffs all but earned at the unofficial halfway point of the season. Partly because most of the Hamilton fans cleared out by midway through the fourth quarter and partly because the chants could have been rotated by the quality of play of those involved: It is now “Ticats Suck” because they do and the separation between the two teams in Southern Ontario has grown wider in this one-sided season. “We feel we haven’t played our best football,” said Dinwiddie. “We don’t talk playoffs . We don’t talk Grey Cup.”They do the football thing and talk about next week.
