A section of Buchanan Drive in Charlottetown will soon have an asphalt sidewalk, said a representative from the company that owns the road.

“Obviously, we want all of our shoppers to be safe and able to move between the two sites, up and down the hill, without any issue,” he said.Molly Murphy, Fusion Charlottetown’s director of advocacy, has been asking for safer access between the sites – and in particular to the T3 Transit bus stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot near the corner of Buchanan Drive and Sandstone Road – for a while now.
She said Fusion Charlottetown is glad to see walkability improving outside the city’s downtown core and also hopes that Smart Centres considers incorporating green infrastructure and sustainable design into plans for the path
