ICYMI: Siblings not entitled to any of deceased mom's $3 million lottery win: Sister
In April, Lisa Turnbull was named as a defendant by Frances Graham and Stephanie Kennery, who are seeking what they say is their fair share of the money won by Frances Lloyd of Parksville.
In an affidavit, Lisa Turnbull says that a week after the lottery win, her mom transferred $1 million to a joint account she had with her husband as a gift to show her appreciation for the care and companionship they had provided her over the years.Turnbull says she and her husband paid off their mortgage using some of the gift.
“I continued to use the account and assist my mother as I had before she won the lottery,” says Turnbull, who described herself as the primary caregiver of their mom.Article content “When I gave her the money, I said it was for being a good sister and because I knew that she would not be receiving any money from my mother,” said Turnbull. She says she and her husband now have a $1.5 million GIC.
