Warm weather means more people are taking advantage of being outdoors.
To stop crime from increasing like the temperatures, there are new measures in place starting this weekend in the Short North .I feel like that's great," says Megan Snodgrass. "I think there's so much stuff going on in the world right now that safety should be a bigger priority, and as a young woman that's something I'm very concerned about myself."
Several new safety initiatives went into place Saturday in the Short North, all to lower crime in the area and to eliminate traffic and congestion.This also includes more police officers patrolling the area on weekends. Many of those officers will be on bikes so that they can navigate the crowds easier.He says the new measures are definitely important.
Any increase in safety is always welcoming," Pandora shared with ABC 6 News. "Any district and in the Short North district in the years that I have been playing here -- and I’ve been here nearly every Gallery Hop -- I’ve never seen issues during the periods of time the Gallery takes place. Most of the issues that I’ve ever heard came up would be like after midnight, or late early morning hours.
Other measures include extending paid parking to midnight, creating designated ride share pickups points, extending COTA late night services and assigning specific places for street vendors.
