She spent five years handling 911 calls in West Shore communities on Vancouver Island and Kamloops
Halla, a police service dog that most recently worked for West Shore RCMP on hundreds of 911 calls tracking missing people, looking for evidence and detecting explosives, is retiring from her high-intensity posting after five years there and in a similar role in Kamloops.

Dave Lewis are both joining the RCMP National Reintegration Program.Photo by West Shore RCMPIt started in 2015 and has been described as a “life-saving” peer-driven program designed to ease Mounties back into service after a critical incident, traumatic experience or lengthy absence.
“We want to thank Halla and Cpl. Lewis for their dedication and service to West Shore RCMP,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar in a news release Tuesday.Article content The West Shore detachment handles calls in the Victoria-area communities of Colwood, Highlands, Langford, Metchosin, View Royal and the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.
West Shore RCMP normally has one corporal and two constables available, each with their own police dog.
