In the hardest-hit American cities, the coronavirus has evolved into the unimaginable.
There are hundreds of deaths, sometimes thousands, backed-up mortuaries, overburdened hospitals, makeshift ICUs and infected patients isolated from loved ones, because of restrictions designed to guard against the virus’s spread. We have heard agonizing tales of patients connected to loved ones via iPhone to manage some form of interaction, or perhaps a goodbye. Heartbreakingly, people are dying alone.
