Sexually violent predator approved for release to Jacumba Hot Springs home [Breaking]
A judge on Tuesday approved the conditional release of a man classified as a sexually violent predator to a home in Jacumba Hot Springs.
Stafford is slated to be placed in the home by mid-November. He is the fifth sexually violent predator to be released to the desert community.San Diego Superior Court Judge David Gill authorized Stafford’s release during a brief court hearing on Tuesday.
Gill did not elaborate on what led him to approve Stafford’s release, but said he visited the community in person last week and viewed the home. After serving their prison sentences, sexually violent predators undergo years of treatment at a state hospital, and if they complete the earlier phases of the program, they can petition courts to continue outpatient treatment in the community, where they are monitored via GPS, among other measures.
