Israeli army raid in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin leaves at least one Palestinian dead, five others wounded, according to Palestinian health officials
Israeli forces have killed more than 70 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank this year, including the fatalities on Tuesday.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified one of the Palestinian fatalities as 26-year-old Mohammed Ghazawi. Israeli military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss events still unfolding, said the army had entered the Jenin refugee camp to arrest suspects involved in the killing of two Israeli brothers in the northern West Bank town of Huwara last week. The raid was the latest in a string of deadly arrest operations by the Israeli military in the northern West Bank. Last month, a rare daytime military raid in the Old City of Nablus left 10 Palestinians dead.
"They were shooting at us with live ammunition. God helped us," said Omar Khalifa, who had just finished shopping at a supermarket and had got into the car with his family when the attack took place.
