Peel police say they have seized the largest number of illegal guns in the force’s history, and Durham police were among those involved.
Officials gathered Wednesday to announce the results of ‘Project Chrome,’ which looked into gun trafficking between the United States and Canada, particularly across the GTA. It started in Peel in September and involved other services, including Durham police, the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario , OPP, Toronto police, York police, Halton police and the Canada Border Services Agency, with help from London police and Hamilton police. Investigators also worked with U.S. Homeland Security and the ATF.Police also seized 5.5 kilograms of cocaine and 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl, along with smaller quantities of crack cocaine and Xanax pills.
