Serena Williams joins the Bumble Fund as an investor alongside Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd

earlier this year, will be joining Whitney Wolfe Herd as an investor and active member of the Bumble Fund. Williams's fund, Serena Ventures, has invested in over thirty companies through focusing on underrepresented founders or problems, empowering creativity or empowering oneself, and future technology. Serena Ventures and the Bumble Fund share an overlapping synergy that made for the perfect advancement for Williams to join as investor in her partnership with Bumble.

“In my life, and today more than ever, I’ve learned how impactful one woman’s voice can be when given a platform to speak and be heard,” said Williams. “I am passionate about building on this progress and opening doors for women of all backgrounds, especially women of color, to share their message and trust in their potential to accomplish great things.

“When we launched our #InHerCourt campaign with Serena Williams this past January, we were amazed by the overwhelming response we received from women globally who felt empowered by our message,” stated Wolfe Herd. “In teaming up with Williams for the Bumble Fund, we want women everywhere to know that we are here, we are listening and we believe in you.

With the Bumble Bizz pitch competition under way, i t hopes to identify two to three new investments in this latest call for pitches, for businesses raising a pre-seed, seed or A round with an existing lead in place. The fund expects to invest $50-100k per company, depending on the scale of the business.The pitch competition gives the opportunity for business owners from around the world to be seen by investors and mentors, such as Williams, that they otherwise would not have access to.
