On Tuesday, in a Class 4A semifinal loss to Prattville Christian, Gustafson has 30 assists with 8 digs and 2 kills for the Tigers . In a quarterfinal win over St. Michael, she finished with 34 assists, 20 digs and 4 kills. She was one of four Madison County players to record 20 or more digs in that match.
Lynleigh Cobb of Winston County was second in the voting with 22 percent of the total – 773 votes. The junior led the offense with 26 blocks and 3 digs in a 3-1 semifinals loss to Lindsay Lane. She had 32 kills for the Yellow Jackets in a 3-1 quarterfinal win over G.W. Long. Winston County finished the season at 39-14.
Chelsea’s Lauren Buchanan finished third with 516 votes, good for 15 percent of the total. In a Class 6A semifinal loss to Spanish Fort, the senior had 20 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks to lead the Hornets . In the quarterfinals, Buchanan tallied 21 kills and 8 digs to lead Chelsea to a straight-set victory over Cullman.The senior outside hitter led the Panthers in the Class 1A semifinals win over Ider with 21 kills, 10 digs and 3 aces. In a quarterfinal win over Millry, she had 21 kills and 6 digs.
