Ecology Action Centre calls for immediate implementation of Coastal Protection Act | SaltWireBADDECK, N.S. — The second Free Speech in Medicine conference is returning to the Inverary Inn Oct. 27-29.

"You're literally not allowed. We were told by the College of Physicians and Surgeons during COVID not to speak." When Curwin and Millburn were organizing the 2022 conference, they invited speakers to discuss the public health response to COVID-19 which included Nova Scotia's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Strang and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia Registrar Dr. Gus Grant who both declined.

"Ironically, the response we got just by trying to have the conference was all the proof I needed to show that we really, really needed to have the conference. You know what I mean? Just the fact that it was so difficult to advertise and was so difficult to get people to come and speak tells us that we need to have a Free Speech in Medicine conference."

"I also remember saying in that email that I think this is a great idea for people to get together to speak about this … I think I think it's valuable for physicians to come together and have an open discussion about the role of the physician voice in public discourse."
