Seattle Council Candidate Bob Kettle says he felt the incumbent did not deserve an unopposed run and that’s what drove him to take on“We have to have change on the City Council,” said Kettle, a first-time candidate, as he sat in the Lola Restaurant, to talk with KOMO News Senior Reporter Chris Daniels.

The Kettle discussion is of 14 individual conversations with candidates for the seven open Council seats.Kettle highlights his military service, and his Queen Anne Community Council experiences as positives. He suggested the Seattle Police Department should reach out to former officers, once he’s in the position, to see if they’re willing to come back to the force while the department attempts to recruit new officers to get back to pre-pandemic staffing levels.

When the political novice was asked how he felt he was better prepared than someone who worked in the City Attorney’s office and City Hall, Kettle said, “Experience doesn't mean results.”
