Photo courtesy The National Park Service | For lehighvalleylive.comThe continued search for a swimmer missing in the Delaware River is now presumed to be a recovery mission, the National Park Service said Thursday.
None of the three swimmers were wearing a life jacket. The other two swimmers made it to the New Jersey shore and were later rescued by volunteer rescue team members. Crews started searching for Schofield Wednesday and returned today. The work has included surface, shoreline and underwater searches, using boats, divers, a search dog, side-scan sonar and drones.
The park service plans to continue the surface and shoreline searches tomorrow and through the weekend if necessary, with its dive team on standby.
