House Republicans proposed two bills that would end the use of 'X' as a gender identification option on U.S. passports, which the Biden admin says promotes gender inclusivity.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said last year that allowing people to choose"X" for their gender would advance"inclusion."
State said it consulted with other countries on how best to include gender identifiers other than"male" and"female," along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and"members of the LGBTQI+ community." President Biden has supported a broad range of policies aimed at supporting people who identify with genders other than the one they were born with.
