Sanquhar Post Office is the oldest in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records, and it can be yours
As part of their renovations, Sanquhar Post Office has been converted to a Local Plus Office, meaning that Post Office services are available from the retail counter during all retail hours. Additionally, the branch has the benefit of mail sorting, and has a dedicated sorting office at the rear where seven postmen are employed by Royal Mail.
Looking inside, a side entrance opens into a hallway that offers access to the kitchen, which is fitted with a hob and an oven. There is also a range of cupboards and a sink unit, while the room is plumbed for a washing machine. Moving upstairs, there are two double bedrooms, and a boxroom that could be used as a third bedroom. Additionally, there is a shower room that includes shower cubicle, a wash hand basin, and a toilet.
