Updated: Oct. 10, 2023, 11:14 a.m.Superintendent Fred Bolden tells the Solon Board of Education Monday that Solon High School’s 49 seniors recognized through the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program is an impressive number. SOLON, Ohio -- Forty-nine Solon High School seniors have earned 50 awards in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.
“This is yet another example of the commitment to academic excellence and hard work among our students and staff throughout the Solon Schools. Congratulations to the students and their families.” “When we talk about these things in my superintendents’ meetings, and I say the number that we have, jaws drop,” he continued.
These students earned scores on the PSAT taken in their junior year that were among the highest in the state and qualified them as National Merit Scholar semifinalists. In addition, the students and school officials must complete a detailed scholarship application that includes a student essay and information about their participation and leadership in school and community-based activities.
