Greenwood Public School flag was stolen and replaced; ADSB warns that school property is private and that vandals and thieves may be charged
As reported earlier by SooToday, Greenwood Public School’s Pride flag was stolen early this week then replaced by the ADSB.
“Algoma District School Board confirms that we have had Pride Flags taken from at least two of our schools in Sault Ste Marie over the last week,” said Lucia Reece, ADSB director of education in an email. “We prefer not to identify any other school in the hopes of deterring repeat or copycat activity,” Reece said.“As we have said in the past, school property is private, not public property. In the interest of safety, individuals who trespass onto school property and engage in vandalism or mischief may be charged, as our priority is keeping our sites safe and in good repair for the students we serve,” Reece said.
