Sarah Isgur, a former aide to Jeff Sessions, is joining the new conservative media company The Dispatch as a staff writer
Sarah Isgur, who served as top spokesperson for the Justice Department for former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is joining the new conservative media company The Dispatch as a staff writer.
The site’s other two co-founders are Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg -- Hayes was editor in chief of the Weekly Standard until owner Phil Anschutz abruptly shut down the publication last December, and Goldberg previously was an editor and writer at National Review. “I often compared being at the Department of Justice to being a reporter but with just really good sources,” she said in an interview. “Part of your job is to go around and figure out what is actually happening. ... There’s actually more sleuthing and source-gathering and getting two sources to verify something before I come back to you.”
“Her ability to distill really complicated crazy issues in clear and concise ways is just a huge gift,” said Hayes, editor in chief of The Dispatch. “One of the things that we’re trying to do institutionally is to explain things and make things comprehensible to the average person reading us, such as in my hometown of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.”
Isgur joined the Trump administration in 2017 after she overcame opposition from the president because she had been critical of him during parts of the 2016 campaign.
