The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office identified Manuel Rodriguez as the primary suspect.
CUPERTINO – In what authorities are calling a landmark case, a 28-year-old San Jose man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide for selling a lethal amount of fentanyl to a 61-year-old Cupertino man.
Detectives presented the case to prosecutors for consideration of formal charges and then obtained a warrant for Rodriguez’s arrest on homicide and several drug-trafficking charges, the sheriff’s office said. Rodriguez was taken into custody about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. “This is a landmark case in an effort to hold perpetrators accountable for their intentional criminal actions that have known, deadly consequences,” the sheriff’s office said.
