Federal agents say Mexican cartels are behind the increasing attempts to bring fentanyl across the U.S.-Mexico border. The photo above shows $3.5 million in U.S. currency and massive quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and ammunition that were seized in Otay Mesa a year ago this month. The opioid epidemic used to be mostly a problem in rural Rust Belt areas. Now, alas, the border region is an ‘epicenter’ of fentanyl trafficking.
