Mayor Gloria and local business leaders are part of the largest San Diego delegation ever making the 3-day trip.
More than 170 San Diego business and civic leaders are traveling this week to Washington, D.C., to lobby federal officials for infrastructure funding and other priorities such as coastline resilience and solving border sewage problems.
This is the 15th year the chamber has sponsored a lobbying trip to the nation’s capital. This year’s delegation is the largest ever and includes Mexican officials because of San Diego’s strong connections to Baja California, chamber officials said.“It’s important that our representatives and federal agency leaders hear directly from us about the projects and policies that uniquely affect business and the people living and working in the Cali-Baja region,” Sanders said in a news release.
Members of the delegation include County Board of Supervisors Chair Nora Vargas, Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer, San Diego City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera and Councilmembers Jennifer Campbell, Raul Campillo, Joe LaCava, Marni von Wilpert, Monica Montgomery Steppe and Stephen Whitburn.
