San Antonio’s unemployment rate fell in March compared to February but was higher than it was a year earlier.
Toyota employees work on the manufacturing line at the company’s assembly plant on the South Side. Statewide, goods producers added nearly 100,000 jobs from March 2022 to last month, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
Similarly, the local rate for March is lower than the statewide average of 4.2 percent and above the national average of 3.6 percent. Nationally, however, March’s unemployment rate was down in both comparisons — from 3.9 percent in February and 3.8 percent in March 2022.
