One man has been arrested after a physical fight turned deadly outside an East Side home earlier this year.
Rangel Guadalupe Clemente, 39, was arrested Wednesday on a count of murder in connection with the death of 28-year-old Samantha Gonzales, along with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $500,000 bail. On Sept. 26, San Antonio police officers were called to the 1500 block of Gevers Street just after midnight for a large fight involving multiple people. The caller said at least one person required medical attention.
Five minutes later, a second call was received about a shooting less than a mile away in the 800 block of Hammond Avenue. When officers arrived at the Hammond address, they found Gonzales dead in the front seat of a white Ford Escape.Officers learned that Gonzales had been involved in the Gevers Street fight. As the fight ended and Gonzales tried to drive away, someone started firing toward the Ford, according to an affidavit supporting Clemente’s arrest.
