Anthony Jerome Adams was arrested Saturday after being accused of killing Gary Wayne Battles.

A man who was arrested over the weekend after being accused of stabbing an elderly man to death has been identified by authorities. Anthony Jerome Adams , 36, was arrested Saturday by San Antonio police. He is accused of killing Gary Wayne Battles , 77, outside an apartment complex in the 900 block of South Main Avenue just north of downtown. Adams was charged with murder and booked into the Bexar County jail. His bond was set at $100,000.

At some point, the witness said they saw Adams try to strike Battles with the metal fence post, and a fight broke out. The witness said Adams was able to grab the knife and stab Battles multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
